4Th Annual Middle East Rail Opportunities.

On 6th and 7th OXplus is attending the Middle East Rail Opportunities organized by Fleming Gulf.

The Kingdom of  Saudi Arabia is currently undergoing a major metamorphosis. It is expected to infuse $45 Billion in establishing a railway network across the region which includes projects like the Saudi Landbridge, North-South Railway Line, Haramain High Speed Rail, GCC Rail, Riyadh Light Railway and Makkah Metro. The total length of the railway line is expected to be 7000 kms which certainly is enabling Saudi Arabia live up to its aim of having the railway network in place. The 2 day conference on Rail Opportunities across the Middle East to be held in Saudi Arabia will focus on the current status of the projects and hear about the latest technologies in railway systems from the experts.

We are looking forward to meeting all the interesting people there. For more information on the event click here.

TransQ qualification succeeded

OXplus is now qualified in the TransQ – Nordic Transport Utility Qualification System and Vendor Database! We are very happy to receive this qualification and are sure it will open doors to even more opportunities in the Scandinavian Rolling Stock market for OXplus.

About TransQ

“TransQ - Nordic Transport Utility Qualification System and Vendor Database - is a unique collaboration between transport utilities in the Nordic countries. The participating utilities use the system to provide information and to select suppliers when buying goods, services and works. Those buyers not subject to the EC procurement directives also use the system as a joint vendor database.

For many years TransQ (Achilles) has been working with over 100 privatised and state-operated organisations from the transport industry – such as mainline rail infrastructure companies, mainline rail passenger and freight operators, underground metro & light rail companies and bus.”

Knowledge transfer: First visit to China

Managing Director Richard van Dongen just returned from a knowledge transfer week in China. This first workshop of 5 days (with 2 other workshops still to be scheduled in Nov and Dec ) was setup to advise on a Proof of Concept(POC) regarding a MRO Business Model. This POC should provide insight information to the Customer, who is a large Chinese Rolling Stock Manufacturer, what the impact is of extending their current Business Model with a ‘Service Provider’(MRO) Business Model . Within this Service Provider Business Model the following topics were addressed:High speed train China

  • Customer Contracts, SLA’s, Product / Service Catalogs and price agreements
  • Configuration Management and Preventative Maintenance Concepts
  • Maintenance Engineering, HUMS and RAMS
  • Service Desk & Fleet Management
  • Planning & Scheduling, Work Management and Contracting
  • Purchasing & Logistics
  • Billing / Invoicing and Financial administration

The extension of Manufacturing with Service provider capabilities is not a new phenomenon  in the market, as companies like Siemens, Bombardier, Rolls Royce and GE are already executing this model for years. An important driver of this extended business model is the request from the customer to maintain the trains throughout its life-cycle. The biggest advantage for the manufacturer is getting control of the whole lifecycle of their products and build a long term relationship with the customer.

Providing expertise in Norway

A Rail & Rolling stock company from Norway has recently requested the expertise of our OXplus consultants. Ofcourse we were happy to assist our Nordic upper neighbours. The cooperation has been smooth and pleasant, for which we would like to say: thank you!

The Scandinavian countries have interesting challenges in the field of Rail & Rolling stock. Especially in winter time transport services have to be delivered under more extreme weather conditions. This ofcourse has a significant impact on how to manage maintenance. OXplus sees more potential and is now in the registration process at the TransQ supplier qualification system for the Scandinavian Region. This will make it easier for Scandinavian companies to work together with OXplus!
